As we continue to deal with these unprecedented conditions related to the COVID-19 pandemic, we wanted you to know that we are thinking of you and your family. Our hope is this will pass soon, and we will be able to get back on the ball fields in the near future. However, our main priority right now is the health and safety of everyone in our community and surrounding areas.
Our Executive Board has been following the recommendations released by Local and State officials. We are also continuing to consult with local healthcare professionals and will continue to do so moving forward. In addition, we have begun looking into procedures other youth organizations across the country have put in place with regards to the COVID-19 pandemic. While we are hopeful to resume the baseball/softball season, our priority will be the health and safety of all of players, coaches, families and officials.
We remain optimistic that the situation will improve, and we will be able to play baseball and softball this season. We are constantly working on contingency plans and looking at several different schedule models, so that we will be ready to go when possible. Whether it is this spring or this summer, we will be ready. Upon the return we want to provide as much normalcy for our players as we can with all the chaos they are enduring with this pandemic. We know they will all be anxious to get back on the fields.
Like the players, all of us at GBL are anxious as well. However, for now we must all continue to do our part to help curb the spread of this virus. Please continue to follow the guidelines that have been put in place. Also, please realize that all fields, batting cages and facilities at Cameron Brown, Bob Hailey and Houston Levee are closed. Please refrain from using these facilities in any capacity.
As the weather continues to improve, we encourage you to get out into your backyard and play ball with your families as you are able. This is an optimal time for parents and siblings to spend with their ball players to keep them moving and keeping them engaged.
Please stay safe and stay healthy. We will continue to keep you updated and hopefully sooner, rather than later, we will see you at the ball park!
